Is the X Factor tour taking too much of a toll? Cher Lloyd looks thinner than ever while Katie Waissel 'needs a vacation'

By Daily Mail Reporter

Taking its toll? Cher Lloyd looks thinner than ever while Katie Waissel 'needs a vacation' as they continue the X Factor tour in Manchester today

As former X Factor contestants, Cher Lloyd and Katie Waissel are currently travelling around the UK on the show's tour.

But it seems the manic schedule and energetic choreography make have taken too much of a toll on the pair, who stepped out in Manchester today ahead of tonight's performance in the city.

While Cher, 17, looked thinner than ever, baring her stomach in a cropped T-shirt, Katie, 24, wore a top bearing the slogan 'I need a vacation'.

It's not the first time Cher has sparked concerns over her weight, as many people speculated she was struggling to find time to eat during her time on The X Factor.

But she insisted at the time: 'I am eating. There is no problem. Of course I am eating I wouldn’t be able to perform if I wasn’t.'

In addition to looking very slender, Cher also missed the tour's Tuesday night performance at Manchester's Arena after falling ill.

Slender: Cher has always denied rumours she has a problem with her weight and insists she eats healthily

Despite being offered refunds, it appears most of the fans were content to attend the concert, with Scouser Rebecca Ferguson receiving the biggest cheers of the night.

Liverpool Echo's critic Jade Wright said: 'Cher was on the bill, but cancelled due to a throat infection. Fans were offered a refund before the show, but judging from the crowds inside, few returned their tickets.'

Cher has been sporting an eclectic mixture of outfits during her time on tour.

Yesterday, Cher teamed her attention-seeking hair with a clashing ensemble of patterned floral skirt, grey tights, orange ankle socks white blouse, grey Mackintosh and cream heeled loafers.

Eclectic: Yesterday, Cher appeared to have embraced Japanese street style in her latest fashion statement

A style of many colours: The 17-year-old opted for red, grey, white, black, orange, cream and a multi-coloured skirt

The unusual style appeared reminiscent of the street fashion of the Harajuku suburb of Tokyo.

Japanese teens who follow the Harajuku movement like to combine a variety of different dress styles, including Gothic Lolita, Visual Kei and Decora.

American pop star Gwen Stefani popularised the style outside of Japan with her dance troupe of 'Harajuku Girls', who accompanied her during her Love. Angel. Music. Baby. album in 2004.

On Thursday, Miss Lloyd was also attracting attention for her questionable make-up when she matched her bright red hair with the same shade of lipstick.

And today, Cher went for frilly white socks over grey tights, teamed with denim shorts, grey boots and a black jumper and matching coat.

Waissel's hit the big time: Gig, Jack Daniels and pizza back at the hotel for X Factor's Katie

By GEORGINA LITTLEJOHN

where are you two going? Katie and James arrive back at her hotel after their party night out

She might be the sweet and butter-wouldn't-melt pop star on stage.

But once the lights have gone down and the audience has gone home, Katie Waissel is just a rock chick at heart.

And no true party girl would be without a DJ on her arm

Katie, 24, was snapped in the small hours of the morning arriving back at her hotel in Liverpool with DJ James Massing, an old family friend, after a night at the city's Bumper nightclub.

And although it is unclear whether the pair are an item, they clutched each other's hands as they walked past the cameras and into the hotel.

I'm free! With fellow singer Rebecca Ferguson behind her Katie looks delighted to be heading out to let her hair down

James is a dance music DJ and producer who also DJs at private parties for celebrities such as Tinie Tempah and Pixie Lott and was believed to have been playing at the Bumper club last night.

Katie is in Liverpool on tour with her fellow X Factor finalists as they play three nights at the Echo Arena.

They play there tonight and tomorrow before heading on to Manchester this weekend for two dates at the MEN Arena.

But last night, Katie decided to let her hair down with a night on the tiles at the live music venue.

And partying is not just thirsty work that requires a large bottle of bourbon, but she was also feeling peckish as she carried a pizza box back to her hotel.

Vision in blue: Katie sat crossed legged on the stage as she wowed the Liverpool fans with a ballad during last night's gig

Power to the purple: Paige Richardson and Wagner sported shiny outfits on stage

And earlier in the evening, she took to her Twitter page and wrote: 'At bumper with the gorgeous @djjamesmassing rock on Liverpool!!'

Katie is joined on the tour by Rebecca Ferguson, Mary Byrne, One Direction, Wagner, Paige Richardson and winner Matt Cardle.

They are touring for another month and will also play in Glasgow, Nottingham and Brighton before wrapping it up in Cardiff.

Simon Cowell says 'peace'... but ITV bosses may not be so mellow as it is revealed he is yet to sign on to the next UK series of X Factor

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Peace out: Simon Cowell gives love to the cameras as it is suggested that he has yet to sign on to the next UK series of X Factor

ITV’s director of television has suggested that Simon Cowell is yet to sign a deal to appear on this year’s X Factor.

Appearing on Richard Bacon’s Radio 5 Live show this afternoon, Peter Fincham was asked if Cowell would be returning to the judging panel when the new series which begins in the autumn.

He said: ‘It has to remain speculation. The X Factor is coming back and is back in the ITV schedule this autumn. Simon will be closely involved with it as he is always involved with it.

‘I don’t want to sound like an evasive politician, but I’m not in a position to confirm or deny any of the individuals to be sitting in those chairs or on the X Factor this autumn.’

Bacon then asked him: ‘Simon Cowell has yet to agree to appear in the next series?’
Fincham replied: ‘We have an agreement which has been publicly announced for both the X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent. They will be on ITV screen for the next three years.

Cowell was spotted outside his Los Angeles mansion today, and perhaps in a sign of goodwill to the network, flashed a peace sign.

In limbo: ITV’s director of television said he was 'not in a position to confirm or deny any of the individuals to be sitting in those chairs or on the X Factor'

He pulled into the driveway of his Los Angeles mansion in his £1million Bugatti Veyron and handed the keys over to his personal valet.

He then flashed a peace sign to the waiting cameras as he made his way into his £15million house.

A short while later, he was back in another of his cars as he took his Bentley convertible for a spin round the Hollywood Hills.

Asked if it would be a disaster if Cowell failed to appear in the UK series, Fincham added: ‘No, of course it wouldn’t and you shouldn’t look at it that way Richard.

Not a care: ITV may be sweating but Simon looked carefree as he went for a spin in his Bentley...

... and looked happy and content as he flashed his trademark peace sign to the cameras

‘The show will be there and when we’re ready to announce who will be on it we will announce who’s on it.’

Simon is in Los Angeles to start proceedings on the U.S. version of the X Factor, with auditions starting in Los Angeles on the 27th of this month.

Reports this weekend have suggested that he has warned Cheryl Cole she may not get a job as one of the judges.

According to The People, Cowell may not be able to persuade the Fox network that Cheryl is the right celebrity for the job and a source told the paper that Simon told her: 'Sorry, but business is business.'

'Still in the running': While Cowell has yet to rule out Cheryl Cole, he hinted that the chosen judge for U.S. X Factor will be a high profile American artist

This week Cowell confirmed that George Michael, former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, Mariah Carey and Paula Abdul are all being considered for the show, but no-one has signed on the dotted line as yet.

While Cheryl is understood to be be 'still very much in the running,' Cowell hinted that the chosen judge will be a high profile American artist.

He said: 'It’s not about necessarily the TV show per se, it’s people. You genuinely gotta trust that they’re gonna be able to do the job you’re paying them to do.

'And like I said, a hit-maker who worked in America and has had experience, I think is crucial to this panel as well.'

Of the heavily-pregnant Carey, Cowell said: 'Yeah, I’ve spoken to her. I mean literally, we’ve spoken to lots of people. I’ve spoken to Paula...And then new people come along… [Two days ago], we met somebody who I’ve never met before in my life, who I just loved.

Cheryl Cole still in the running to be a judge on the American version of the X Factor

By Jody Thompson

Still on board: Cheryl Cole, seen here with Simon Cowell on the UK's own X Factor last year, is still in the running to be a judge on the U.S. version

Cheryl Cole is still on the shortlist to be a panellist on the USA version of The X Factor - despite claims today that she's been dropped by Simon Cowell.

The Girls Aloud singer is still in with a shout, despite Cowell giving an interview to U.S. website Access Hollywood in which he listed a host of stars he'd approached for the job as judge on the show - bar Cheryl.

However, as Access Hollywood pointed out, it was just SOME of the names, not all - and Cheryl is one still very much in the running.

Cowell confirmed that George Michael, former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, Mariah Carey and Paula Abdul are all being considered for the show, but no-one has signed on the dotted line as yet.

'And that’s why it’s good to kind of delay the process. It’s not about necessarily the TV show per se, it’s people. You genuinely gotta trust that they’re gonna be able to do the job you’re paying them to do.

'And like I said, a hit-maker who worked in America and has had experience, I think is crucial to this panel as well.'

Still smiling: The Girls Aloud star posed in a short white mini-dress for a photoshoot in Los Angeles earlier this week

He hinted that Paula Abdul could be a shoo-in for the role and admitted that she was on a 'narrowed down' list of stars.

He told Access Hollywood of his former American Idol fellow panellist: 'We’ve taken it down to a smaller group of people and she’s in that panel. But, you know, it’s more than me who makes the decision,' pointing out that Fox executives still had a say.

A Fox TV source said of Tommy Mottola: 'Simon and Tommy have known each other for years since their days at Sony and Simon has wanted to get Tommy on board one of his shows for a long time.

Simon had lunch with the ex husband of Mariah Carey and music mogul last week in LA to talk about his possible role.

Keeping schtum: Cowell, seen here on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno earlier this week, has at least another month before he has to reveal who is on the panel

Obviously, if Tommy takes the role it will mean there is no chance that Mariah will be on the panel - which just goes to show that the decision-making process as to who will be on the panel is still very liquid and yet to be set in stone.

The Mirror today claimed that Cheryl was on the brink of quitting the States as she was so fed up of hanging around waiting for an answer as to whether or not she would be on the panel.

They quoted her as telling a friend tearfully: 'I want to go home. I keep getting told to smile, smile, smile...but it's hard when I feel so sad on the inside.'

However, Mail Online can confirm that in fact Cheryl is not hanging around waiting for a decision to be made on the role - she's working on the US re-release of her album Messy Little Raindrops.

Another possible? Cowell met with fellow music mogul and former Mr Mariah Carey earlier this week to discuss a possible role on the show

The star has been re-working some of the tunes with help from her friend Black Eyed Pea star Will.I.Am for the American market, as well as taking to opportunity to record brand new material.

She's also managed to fit in some magazine shoots too.

And there is still a month before Cowell will make an official announcement about who will join him on the show.

Auditions for the American X Factor will not even start until May – where producers initially sorting the wheat from the chaff - with judges coming on board shortly afterwards.

Mrs Cole’s record bosses are already making plans to launch her in the States with a makeover and the source said: ‘Cheryl has some very senior Fox people in her corner. And Simon, of course.’

The show will air in the U.S. this autumn.

Look familiar? Cher Lloyd takes inspiration from X Factor mentor Cheryl Cole in furry white headband

By SARAH BULL

Spot the difference: Cher Lloyd stepped out earlier this week wearing a fluffy white headband almost identical to the one worn by Cheryl Cole last December

She may no longer have Cheryl Cole as a mentor, given that the X Factor finished months ago, but it seems Cher Lloyd is still taking inspiration from the Girls Aloud star.

Cher, 17, stepped out on Tuesday wearing a white furry headband almost identical to the one sported by Cheryl in December.

The teenager was out in Sheffield fitting in some shopping time with fellow singer Katie Waissel ahead of the X Factor live performance on Tuesday.

Caffeine fix: Cher and X Factor friend Katie Waissel popped out in Sheffield ahead of their tour performance on a quick coffee run

It's not the first time a similarity has been detected in the way that Cheryl and Cher dress.

From Cher's very first X Factor audition, the teenager was immediately likened to the 27-year-old singer, and did little to detract from the comparison in the following months.

However, after Cher was spotted out in a pair of red lace-up boots donated by Cheryl, the petite star came forward to insist she is her own fashion icon.

Say cheese: Cher and Katie pose for a photograph with some young fans

She said last year: 'I don't model myself on her. I think she's an amazing woman to look at, but I'm myself.'

Cher has been appearing throughout the UK on the X Factor tour alongside fellow stars including Katie, Mary Byrne, Wagner, Rebecca Ferguson and winner Matt Cardle.

But it was recently reported the teenager has been causing issues with some of the X Factor, after boasting about her recent trip to LA which saw her record songs with Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am and producer Red One.

Giving it her all: It was a quick change for Cher as she took to the stage on Tuesday night on the X Factor tour in Sheffield

A source told Star magazine: 'It’s as if Cher things she’s too big for this tour. She struts around like she owns the stage.

Popular: Cher has an album coming out in August

'It makes the other singers so angry - they barely speak to her. She seems to have let it all go to her head and has been acting like a total diva.'

Mary Byrne, who won the public over with her outgoing personality and impressive voice, also spoke recently about Cher, and admitted she had caused some problems when they all lived together in the X Factor house.

Mary said: 'Cher was being a little bit of a missy. People were talking about her thinness and she started talking about fat people.

'And, you know, I’m a big woman, which she got quite abrupt about, so I said to her, “You know, every one of us has something wrong with us, there’s none of us perfect and you can’t keep putting other people down because you’re feeling low. That’s bullying”.’

Rebecca Ferguson gets her time to shine as she dazzles Sheffield in the X Factor Live tour

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Moment to shine: Rebecca Ferguson showed off her curvy figure in a little black dress as she performed several songs as the X Factor Live Tour came to Sheffield

She may have come second to Matt Cardle, but Rebecca Ferguson proved herself as a future superstar as The X Factor Live Tour hit Sheffied.

The Liverpudlian single mother, 24, wore a series of slinky outfits as she performed to a sell-out crowd of 10,000 fans at the city's Motor Arena.

At one point, she was lifted up on to a huge platform with two purple 'wings' sprouting out from her back, making her appear like a butterfly.

Floats like a butterfly: For one number, Rebecca was hoisted in the air with two giant 'wings'

She sang Show Me Love and Bob Dylan's Make You Feel My Love - a hit for Adele in 2008 and 2010 - receiving a standing ovation from the thousands in the arena.

Cher Lloyd kicked off the show with a four-song set, including Get Your Freak On, Boom Shake The Room, Hey You (Girlfriend) and Stay.

But getting the biggest screams of the night were boy band One Direction - perhaps because one of their members Louis Tomlinson is from the city.

Starting the show: Cher Lloyd was pulling her usual quirky facial expressions during her set, while Katie Waissel had fun singing King Of The Swingers

The five-piece - comprising of Louis, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Liam Payne - sang some of their most popular covers from the show, including Kids In America and Chasing Cars.

The Sheffield gig came after Mary Byrne revealed the extent of some of Cher's bad behaviour when the contestants all lived together during the live shows.

Mary, who releases her debut album Mine And Yours later this month, told the Metro newspaper: 'She was being a little bit of a missy. People were talking about her thinness and she started talking about fat people.

Arch-enemies: X Factor 2010 winner Matt Cardle (left) performs with his guitar, while Wagner Fiuza-Carilho danced with his usual bevy of female dancers

Biggest scream of the night: One Direction (L-R) Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik got a raucous reception

'And, you know, I’m a big woman, which she got quite abrupt about, so I said to her, “You know, every one of us has something wrong with us, there’s none of us perfect and you can’t keep putting other people down because you’re feeling low. That’s bullying”.’

However, Mary insisted that the 17-year-old apologised ‘because she knew she was wrong'.

The 51-gig tour started on February 19 at Birmingham's LG Arena and will end in Cardiff's CIA on April 10.

This is where I should be: Londoner Paije Richardson looked like he was enjoying his moment in the spotlight
